The blind leading the blind

Traveling down a country road in a suburb unknown, far far away, we suddenly were brought to a halt as it became evident that the road had been blocked and closed off. A police officer was redirecting traffic onto some street that we've never seen before. The vehicles in front were stumped too, and it seemed that the police officer wasn't giving sufficient details on how to manage this detour. Everyone was redirected to turn right.

I asked my dad to take out the road directory so he could navigate a way back onto the major road. He didn't want to take it out, and insisted to stick close to these two vehicles in front. He kept persisting I speed up as to follow their tail. I didn't feel the necessary need to speed just to follow, so I kept to the speed limit while generally tagging these cars in front.

It seemed like they knew they where going because at each intersection they didn't bother to make any left turns. Trees after tree came rushing by. After 10 mins of following, the 1st vehicle came to a stop and pulled onto the road side. The second one didn't follow suite, and decided the follow the vehicle in front of them, which at this stage was as seperated as far as I was to his car. So to simplify things at this stage, basically the situation was:
- Car A is 3 km in front Car B,
- Car B is 3 km in front of me,
- we were 2km in front of Car D (behind us)
- Car D was 2km in front of Car E, and so on and so forth.... (there was a huge line)

Everybody was following everybody. lol..... at each turn, we hoped that the car in front actually knew where they were going (Hoping they were locals)

Eventually after a few twists and turns, we eventually arrived onto a street with a whole bunch of cars on the other side of the road. At this point we were relieved because that meant we were on the right track. So yeah........Ahhhh.......... everything turned all okay. A good example of the blind leading the blind......... maybe :)
