A trip down Mathematical lane

My friend and I were bored when we found this Signpost 8 Textbook. We opened a page, and the question was:

A level 1 card tower takes 2 cards to make
/\

A level 2 card tower takes 7 cards to make
  /_\
/ \/ \

A level 3 card tower takes 15 cards to make
     /_\
  /_\/_\
/ \ / \ / \
How many cards does a 10 tower card require to make?

-------------------------------

After trying to squeeze out every single drop of our high school maths knowledge, we eventually worked it out. Eventually, meaning like 20 minutes later. But we didn't actually work it out. We just counted it. Booo.....

We put the book away, and said we wouldn't do anymore.

But, somehow, I was really disappointed at myself. I couldn't bare the fact that I couldn't work it out. We worked out 10 because we counted, but what if the question asked for a level 100, or 10,000? Maybe it was my anal attitude, but I then decided that I HAD to work out the formula. My friend said it wasn't worth it. He was right.

But I won, and we spent our time trying to work it out.

..... eventually and happily, and an hour later, I finally worked it out. It's a bit hard to describe how it was done. I pretty much broke the puzzle up into two sections.
I wrote down out the first 4 required cards for the one's that weren't horizontal (being 2, 6, 12, 20), and through trial and error, working out the formula.
Then I wrote down the pattern for the cards that were horizontal (0, 1, 3, 6), and did the same.

Combining those two formulas gave me the overall formula.

Of course, this process would have taken 10 seconds by someone who remembers the formulas.

But still, I think, that has to be the greatest achievement for me last week.

Proud to be asian! (or not, lol)

Home stories

Now and again, spoons seem to go missing.

Who's stealing my spoons?

I have my eye on you......

I'm not an OTAKU

Last night I had a seriously weird dream.

Please read on if you dare:

I was attending a special cosplay convention with the cosplay group. Strangely enough, it was held at Epping Boys High School. There were heaps of people lining up along Epping Rd, eager to enter the place. But only certain invitees were allowed in. We entered the school hall, and the doors closed. We shuffled our way to some grab some good seats up the back, and an announcement came up.

The person announced that all invitees had shown up, but a headcount determined that we had some extra people. We all looked around and was astounded. The announcer requested that we determine who we were by coming on stage, and making poses of characters that we've cosplayed before.

(..... yeah, i know, wierd)

So then, when it finally got to my turn, I did the Shino bug pose, Luffy jump, Shikamaru think pose, Pazu run, and then swung an imaginary sword stylishly like Yamamoto. The crowd went wild. Haha.....

Then I woke up.

(yeah......... okay. Strange, i know i know)

MoonCake Madness

AAAARRGGHHH........ MOOOOON CAKEEEEE!!!!

Yesterday I had moon cake for Breakfast, lunch and sorta-dinner.

Because I have a tendency to keep food in my mouth, the first mooncake of the day took me an hour and 10 mins to finish. You can munch and munch and munch and munch.

You know.... after a while, it kinda tastes like chinese medicine.

Then moon cake again for lunch.
(I only had small pieces)

Then moon cake again for sorta-dinner.
Sorta-dinner means not during dinner, but after, with aunties and uncles offering you more and more moon cake, and your in-ability to say no to them.

Oh wait. Then they ask us to bring more moon cake pieces home. And there's already lots of moon cake at home. I know what I'll be having for the next days!!

Erh........ Anybody willing to come heeeeeelp?

But other than that, mooncake day was good. The rain probably spoiled a couple of activities around the area. But luckily the sky turned red-ish orange afterward. Made everything feel mystical/special.......Woooooooo.................

Photoshopness!

Okay. This is wear boredom leads you:

This is Eriz charging up.

This is some wierdo trying to be Luffyish.

This is one point lighting. Trying to be serious.

Haha... okay. Enough randomness!

He went on my computer and decide to merge two hard drives together. Lost so many of my files, and now some of my programs aren't working.

Don't let your dad touch/browse through your computer unless supervised.

I want my Avatar!

Watching: Avatar - The Last Airbender

Progress: Book 1 Chapter 16.

Status: Full of AWESOME!!

Awesome!

They should also make a short prequel series or something, just to quench the first of the fans. Otherwise, we'll have to wait for the Avatar Movie, coming soon, in 2010.

Rise of Darkrai

OMGWTFHOLYAWESOMEFREEKINGMARVEOLOUSWOAH!!!!!!

I just finished watching Pokemon - Rise of Darkrai, and it's the 2nd best pokemon Movie!!! FAR OUT......

Why? It showed all three starter pokemon in their 3rd evolutions, especially Empoleon!! *dribble* It has the two Titans, Palkia and Dialga, battling one another in epic battle. Darkrai was just freaking awesome!! And!! They say, Palkia actually ran away from Dialga. Hahahahaha, take that Eriz!!
Oh yeah, and they also had Drifloons and Drifblims. (Drifloon being the pokemon that I spent 3 hours purely looking for on Friday, lolz....)

Alright! I'm going go catch me some Pokemon!!
